I got my first Social Security scammer robocall yesterday. The message told me that my Social Security account had been "frozen" because of illegal activity on the account in Texas. Of course, I just hung up. Don't fall for this.

When I was a CR "cold calling" people for redeterminations was encouraged by management. It was surprising how many people would agree to do an unexpected RZ over the phone and disclose all of their personal information. I refused to do it and told my supervisor that we aren't supposed to be doing this (Social Security will NEVER call you and ask for personal info...Ha!) She shrugged and said she knew, but "we have to get them done" (i.e., meet the RZ percentage goal. Ugh.
I've been "cold called" before, and they never asked any personal info, just asked me if I was who I was, and it was during a CDR, so I know who was calling, but the rep never made me give any info over the phone and was just relaying info. to me. I am a long way away from a field office, but if I got a call like 6:07 is explaining, I would offer to make an appointment at the field office to discuss sensitive information, and exert the fact I'm cooperating, but that I do not feel comfortable giving that info over the phone. A CDR Rep/Adjudicator who I know though, a cold call is fine! Saves me hours of driving.
