Ways And Means Wants Answers

The Chairman and Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee are calling for answers from Social Security on the long lines outside the agency's field offices.

I've got an idea. Why don't they hold a hearing to highlight the problem for the Appropriations Committee which apparently feels that Social Security doesn't deserve enough money for the next fiscal year to even cover inflation much less to improve service?

The current long lines outside are a result of limited numbers of visitors allowed in filed office based on the MOU to return to the office. That in itself needs to be resolved, in addition to additional staffing.

If this doesn’t validate the idiocy of our elected officials, I don’t know what will.

They all know why things are the way they are and if they don’t, it’s because they don’t care.

“Why is this house on fire?” asks the man holding a gas can and blowing out a match.

Congress is in recess. They can check out the long lines in person.

The lines have always been long even pre Covid. This isn’t new.

They wait even longer to have a hearing for their cases. How sad that is.
