Another example of over the top praise by the MAGA administration. How’s the economy going?
In announcing the decision, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum praised Taylor for her “unwavering commitment to public service and her dedication to keeping our cities, landmarks, and public spaces safe.”
“Chief Taylor’s leadership, integrity, and service to this country will leave a lasting legacy that will be felt for generations to come,” Burgum added.
Zero idea what this "consolidate all security functions" is going to look like. Long term, I suppose it could work, but in the short term, there are some major changes and decisions that must be made. With lots of employees being asked to pick up the duties of reassigned or "resigned" coworkers, and with understaffed processing centers scrambling to throw whatever warm bodies are available at meeting high priority targets on things like the SSFA earlier this year, Security best practices can fall by the wayside. It takes a lot of time and trial/error to tailor a new access profile to fit a specific position, and with so many people now doing the work of multiple jobs, the "easy" solution is to just give people multiple profiles! All of these requests tend to be pants-on-fire last minute, too. Imagine learning at 3pm on Friday afternoon of a list of 25 employees who need some new access to process a workload outside of their regular duties for Saturday overtime. Not a lot of time to evaluate the request, and if Security says no, then the work doesn't get done!
SSA will need all the security possible once a cuts in SSI and Medicaid are implemented.
The consolidation of all security/LEO begs the question, "Who will police the police?"
The question answers itself.
