Lauren Reinhold, a longtime federal employee at the Social Security Administration, was swept up in Elon Musk’s DOGE purge of federal employees. Colin McRoberts, a professor at the University of Kansas business school, was inspired to run for office after attending Republican U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall’s contentious March 1 town hall in Oakley.
Both Reinhold and McRoberts believe they can overcome the long odds Democrats have faced in the district by taking aim at Mann’s willingness to support an unpopular Republican agenda.
“We were promised: ‘Things are going to be better for you.’ And I’m just one person, but they certainly were not better for me,” Reinhold said.
“I was lied to. I was told my prices would be lower,” she added. “I was told that things would be better for my kids. I was told they would fix health care. And it’s been a year, and none of that’s happened.” …

Was Reinhold a decision writer? There were very few DOGE layoffs at SSA, so it's unlikely she was laid off.
For the most part, Social Security employees are willing to put up with difficult working conditions in order to make a difference within their community. We have an administration that treats us like dirt but how many jobs exist whereby one makes a difference in thousands of peoples lives? DOGE ruined many federal employees career and I hope this candidate does well in her local election.
JD Vance and his conspiracy theories checking in. Federal employees work information is online.
She was a decision writer years ago, but had moved on to training/diversity Programs
Hear hear.
Way to spout off like a moron about things you know next to nothing about. She had moved on into a role the bigot-brigade flagged as “DEI”
Yikes! Good luck running on a DEI ticket.
Hell Yes!
I'm not sure what you mean by "decision writer"? Lauren was an attorney advisor in a number of different capacities and practiced law outside of SSA. She did training and development cadres and was a union officer. She segued into HR because of the dearth of Hearing office level promotion opportunities.
Why are these folks anonymous?
“Decision writer” is a way to downgrade the resume of this candidate. Let the voters make that determination based on actual facts.
Makes sense…anonymous questioning anonymous.
Yeah, social security employee here. DOGE force retired 7000 of us and about 3000 has left after due to the absolute abuse we endure everyday. Lauren is going to be an incredible voice for those of us that are forgotten. She is the change we need
