So glad I left years ago. No I help people navigate what is left of the agency. Some really basic errors are happening that impact benefits and it is taking multiple months to fix what we were able to fix before in a couple calls or visits. I dont blame anyone for leaving at all, and try to be sympathetic to the staff that is left but that is getting harder as the errors become more stacked.
Have you contacted the legislators in charge of Social Security in Washington? How about the local press or writers in your community for the inferior service at SSA?

In a live all managers call today, the Commissioner stated there was no hiring freeze...as proof he shouted out to Mike Russo who is looking to hire 300 IT staff. None of these positions are posted on internal or external vacancy announcements. Even if they were, the COSS also stated that SSA jobs were part of a reward system. So much of the speech was BS & does not match the experience of employees or managers on the front lines.
I dont know if you have noticed, but congress is now a spineless and useless group with no power. Yes, as an advocate I have been contacting them for years. Guess what? More SSA errors, a smaller than ever SSA got any other great ideas there super sage? Out here in the real world we have been taking a beating for years and the decline is speeding up at a rate that never been seen before. 9 out of the last 11 backpay claims we had were calculated wrong, overpayments wrong and unsupported, errors on the MBR, unable to change and address or stop payment to a dead person for 11 months. Dont even get me started on the state of the letters. While I sympathize with what is left of the workforce at SSA, I have to call out the most simple basic errors that are occurring at alarming rates.
Hire 300 new IT people? Didn’t they want to cut IT staffing by 80% of one point, because IT was not mission critical? Didn’t they drive out all of our knowledgeable IT people? Who are they going to hire? In better yet who’s gonna wanna work here?

The SSA workforce is running towards retirement or looking for other jobs.
In my case, yes to both.

It’s great to criticize from the sidelines.
what else can we do? cheer the incompetence? Not criticize the errors causing missed benefits? Please share great sage what you would have us do?

Isn’t this supposed to be the most transparent administration? 🤡
What do you mean a “reward system?”

Nope. DOGE said we were obsolete. I would NEVER return to work for these incompetent clowns. Once burned twice learned!
The so-called "reward system" is your absolute commitment to Project 2025! 🤬
Congress doesn't care one bit about the agency.
