This is how the name is now appearing in federal court filings for the Commissioner as well.
This is also how a recent pleading filed by the USAO was captioned in FDC.

Good luck trying to put all that in the limited spaces of FDC forms. It's already hard enough to squeeze the word "Acting" in.

Let me guess: this ridiculous signature block is the result of 45 not bothering to nominate a Commissioner of Social Security but, for some reason, it is President Obama's fault.
Gotta give Berryhill credit. She's been put in a ridiculous position and is making the best of it.
@11:23 While President Trump needs to nominate a Commissioner, we wouldn't be in this situation if President Obama had nominated someone that could get confirmed. His nomination of Colvin and subsequent inaction was a joke.

That is assuming Obama's nominee would not have resigned, as Colvin did when Trump took office. Resignation of prior administrative officials, while not required, is the norm.
@9:44 Obama's nominee only would have resigned if he or she had not been confirmed. A confirmed Commissioner would have served out the remainder of the fixed 6 year term (into the Trump administration). It is not the norm for a confirmed Commissioner to resign when there is a change in administration.
No one really wants the Commissioner job right now anyway because the term ends in 2019. Berryhill was just a temporary solution.
@7:38 and who would that have been exactly? I seem to recall that the Republican agenda for that last few years of Obama's tenure was to oppose anything and everything he proposed.
Who in their right mind would take the job under good conditions, let alone under the circus administration we have now?

Oh, I'd take it. And let me tell you...those professional SES bureaucrats in HQ would rue the day. And the field offices would stand up and cheer. But most of all, the claimants and beneficiaries would finally have a reason to be optimistic. I dare the President to appoint me. Hell, I wouldn't even need the entire 6 years!
