Yahoo! Finance doesn't think much of the advice being given by Social Security employees.

It happens all the time. Personally, I decline to give financial advice period. I lay out all the available options and let the person filing choose. I could care less what they decide, but many, many other apparently do because I hear advice like the column weekly in my office.
Since SSA can't stop this "advice" from being given out, it pays get informed before you go in to file.

And just because the person taking your claim is called a Technical Expert does not mean they are an expert on Social Security matters.
What does it mean?
"Can You Get Good Advice From Social Security?"
Yes, but like in any other situation, depends upon whom you ask.
