Central Offices Closed Due To Weather

Social Security Administration offices in the Washington-Baltimore area are closed today because of severe weather conditions. They're expecting 5-8 inches of snow and wind gusts to 25 miles per hour.

5-8 inches of snow and 25 miles per hour winds is "severe"? Really? Just a normal winter day in upstate NY.

I tried to post this already, but guess it did not go through, so will try again...
I live within commuting distance of Baltimore and currently have 12 inches of snow on my deck. The traffic around here is horrible in good weather and near impossible with any amount of snow.

So why are the field offices and hearing offices left to remain office in severe weather. Such poor leadership. No wonder we are in the mess we are in. I just take leave (of which I have plenty to spare) but my coworkers are not always so lucky, so this is not sour grapes.

Last comment clearly not made by an actual federal employee, all agencies in the DC area are closed, HOs and FOs included.

Opening 4 hours late on the 22nd, but I'll be late 8 hours. See you Thursday, maybe. LOL

5:07, I am a 20 year veteran of federal service. I was not talking about the HO or the FO in the DC/Baltimore areas. They always luck out because life is good in DC and Baltimore. However, further up the coast it is too bad so sad it is miserable out, management will not shut down. That is poor leadership. 5:07 you must live in the promised land with the Baltimorons. Good for you, but the rest of us are not so blessed.
