The First -- And Only -- Visit By A Sitting President To Social Security Headquarters

Lyndon Johnson, October 12, 1966

Almost all of the historical photos I post come from Social Security's History website. The agency has an official historian, Larry DeWitt.

That is kind of amazing, that there has only been one. Of course, The President is a busy man, and has lots of things to do and places to go. On the other hand, what is the excuse for Regional Commissioners to never leave their ivory towers to visit the field(at least in my region)?

Region X, Ive met 3 RC's and these last two have visited our office dozens of times, but of course we are only 45 mins away from the RC's office.
