Thanks for posting, Charles. There were several other executive changes and departures announced on Friday as well, however, I no longer receive these announcements via email. It’s pretty bad when I have to depend on your blog to keep me informed about developments within my own agency.
There were a ton of executive changes over the weekend. It’s a bloodbath. So many knowledgeable executives getting reassigned or retiring. It’s a shame.
Yes, a man with no Operations experience. Prior to Michelle King (who had extensive Operations experience) we had Grace Kim. An OGC attorney who was SF RC, but otherwise had no Operations experience. Her tenure was a complete disaster. This appointment combined with the Dudek/Bisignano reign of terror spells continued doom for the Agency and the millions who depend on it.
I guess I am one of the few on this post or at SSA that believes Stephen is a good leader. I think he did a stint in Operations during his SES Development program. What do you really expect to happen because regardless of who is put in these SES positions, I am sure they are fully aware they will not have autonomy and with their jobs being reclassified as schedule F, if they blink wrong, sneeze or cough, they are subject to dismissal. Until the Administration changes, we have what we have because the asylum is being managed by the looney tunes who are not taking their pills. This so reminds me of One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. How and when will the carnage end?
Stephen Evangelista is, and has always been, completely helpless as an executive. Stephen has spent the years since the pandemic writing books and releasing albums rather than doing his job simplifying policy. Stephen's success in every job has come at the expense of a lot of great people he exploited along the way. He fits right in with this crowd, and the personnel complaints and trail of people he destroyed in his wake are likely badges of honor among this group. Stephen will learn soon enough just how ill-equipped he is to lead in Operations. He will see firsthand what his policy paralysis over nearly a decade has done to the agency. Perhaps -- just perhaps -- his move to Ops is really one designed to force him out...
Well that is non-sensical. If "they" wanted him out, with Schedule F, there is very little forcing out needed because they can just make it so. It will be interesting to watch things unfold.
If his leadership is half as bad as his “songs” then Operations is about to crater to a degree I don’t think anyone has ever thought imaginable, which is really saying something give the past couple decades.
Stephen is a lifelong liar, backstabber, and credit stealer, but he is a toady and butt kisser par excellence. He’s also been the main contact for the DOGE team, even moreso than the supposed ACOSS, talking to them all the time. So . . .he’s perfect for the agency’s most important job under this regime.
What 8:50 posted about Grace Kim is on spot. She also made it clear when she was RC that she did not appreciate certain components and certain groups of people. I will leave it at that.
100% this. Got where he was exclusively by brown nosing a certain former DC for Retirement and Disability Policy. He represents everything that was wrong with senior leadership at SSA.
On a related note, the first dominoes to affect service from the reorg are hitting. V-help isn’t accepting submissions anymore. Additionally the agency has no instructions yet for how to refer things that used to require RO approval. This is a direct interruption to support of FO roles.
I read many comments and take them For what they are. Some informed, some not informed and some from a place that have nothing based on reality. Evangalista is a suit, nothing else. Dudex’s mouthpiece. Comments about prior DCO’s comically are not reality based. How many axes to grind? Public service is crashing. That is the point for Dudex and Doge. Get over it. The agency for all its faults is gone. You thought it was tough getting service before? See what is happening now.

What happened to Doris Diaz? The executive personnel announcement didn’t mention her.

He is hardly the best choice for that job.
Ok, I stand corrected. He used to be a SSI CR. Hoping that means he brings some common sense.
Isn’t this the same Stephen?: https://www.broadjam.com/SGE?srsltid=AfmBOoqXwSKKvarsmZlgI0To_ziZnwMNrf24gdjyMjEyy55uUFK6l5Ub
Lateral arabesque? (Trying to recall the right term from the Peter Principle).
This deserves its own post: https://www.broadjam.com/SGE?srsltid=AfmBOoqYv8-QYDwfP-EUtAlwHV5CQpBzp_CXXLNUvMXdVsqDQAGy-QYj
Your new DC for operations is the Duke Silver of SSA?
Stephen is the quintessential yes man, which is why he got the job. I would not hold your breath.
That's definitely the right person... He thinks he's Bob Dylan.

Lol. He’s as much Bob Dylan as I am the King of England.

Those songs are virulently bad. Insufferable.
