Waste Of Scarce Resources

From  “Fact Sheet” issued by the White House yesterday:

Today, President Donald J. Trump signed a Presidential Memorandum aimed at stopping illegal aliens and other ineligible people from obtaining Social Security Act benefits.

  • The Memorandum directs the administration to ensure ineligible aliens are not receiving funds from Social Security Act programs.
    • This includes promulgating guidance and prioritizing enforcement actions against grantees or subgrantees that do not: verify eligibility, stop payments to deceased or ineligible payees, or otherwise prevent ineligible aliens from receiving funds.
  • It expands the Social Security Administration’s (SSA’s) fraud prosecutor program to at least 50 U.S. Attorney Offices and establishes a Medicare and Medicaid fraud-prosecution program in 15 U.S. Attorney Offices.
  • The Memorandum requires the SSA Inspector General to investigate earnings reports for individuals aged 100 or older with mismatched SSA records, to combat identity theft.
  • It also directs the SSA to consider whether to reinstate the use of civil monetary penalties against individuals who engage in Social Security fraud, an effort that has been paused for several years.

PROTECTING TAXPAYER DOLLARS: President Trump believes that taxpayer-funded benefits should be provided only to eligible persons and must not encourage or reward illegal immigration to the United States.

  • Policing Social Security Act fraud is critical because the Act contains not only traditional Social Security provided to older Americans, but also unemployment insurance, disability insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, TANF, and other programs.
  • The surge in illegal immigration caused by the previous Administration is siphoning dollars and essential services from American citizens while state and local budgets grow increasingly strained.
    • Biden oversaw a sharp increase in the number of immigrants given Social Security Numbers (SSNs), with more than 2 million illegal aliens assigned SSNs in fiscal year 2024 alone.
  • The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) calculated that American taxpayers spend at least $182 billion annually to cover the costs incurred by the presence of 20 million illegal aliens and their children, which includes $66.4 billion in Federal expenses plus an additional $115.6 billion in state and local expenses.
    • FAIR estimated that nearly a million illegal aliens hold stolen identifications or fraudulent SSNs.
    • Although some illegal aliens do pay taxes, those tax contributions come nowhere near covering the costs they impose on the populace; FAIR estimates illegal aliens are still a $150.7 billion net fiscal burden.
  • The Congressional Budget Office estimated that the Biden Administration’s open borders agenda, which sought to provide Medicaid-funded emergency services to illegal aliens, has cost Federal and state taxpayers more than $16.2 billion. Joe Biden also tried to make illegal aliens eligible for Obamacare until he was stopped in a lawsuit.

These EOs read more like the rantings of a patient with profound psychosis than presidential memoranda. Looks like 250 years is about all the constitution could support- at least as long as people insist on continuing to elect genuine lunatics like this.

no additional personnell so i guess they figure we are goldbricks with little to do

FAIR sounds like an interesting organization for the White House to cite with favor. Wikipedia says “The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) currently classifies FAIR as a hate group, citing among other things the organization's anti-Latino and anti-Catholic attitudes, its acceptance of $1.2 million from a racist foundation, the Pioneer Fund, its hiring as key officials men who also joined white supremacist groups, having board members who also write regularly for hate publications, its promotion of racist conspiracy theories, and the white supremacist beliefs of its founder. In 1982, John Tanton wrote "As Whites see their power and control over their lives declining, will they simply go quietly into the night? Or will there be an explosion."

Does this mean parents with no ssn’s will not be able to file or serve as rep payees for SSI disabled children? If yes long overdue..

This will save our country from being overrun and going bankrupt.

Overrun? You mean like how the English, Dutch, French, Spanish, and countless others overran the nation over the past 450 years? Go crawl back in your cave, racist troll.

No. No it will not.

TRUMP needs to be impeached.....PRONTO!!!

Anonymous said...

The impeachment hearings will not happen until the Democrats get control of Congress and hopefully that will happen in 2026.

2026 cannot come soon enough.

I don't understand why they have to inflate numbers. Fraud is fraud, whether it be 10 people, or an over inflated 60 Billion people. Just give the real numbers, nobody is going to interject in legitimately cutting out the fraudsters. It makes it sound preposterous when nearly half the US population (inflated number) is fraudulently collecting SSA. It makes it sound so obviously ridiculous. Makes everything 47 says unbelievable (as always).

In so many ways the Trump
administration has given us a window into dystopia world
floating a unanimous decision
By the SupremeCourt
, elevating scientific myth into
healthcare policy and so on. But its latest attack on the Social Security system is arguably the most frightening of all.

Reportedly pressured by Elon Musk's DOGE team and by Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, the current stewards of Social Security have allowed the government to declare 6,300
people "dead" in a crucial Social Security database even though
they're very much alive.

At least O/T is back to deal with backlogs … starting Monday and in some cases Saturday… Advocates should be pushing for movement of Windfall offset to be resolved ( e4345 calculations) to release client underpayments…PC7 has tons of cases lingering for 200 plus days !

Should we tell 12:38 that immigrants are paying in and rarely/never receiving it back? They’re basically keeping SSA solvent heh

I guess the priorities of this administration is to deplete the trust fund even further. They have no problem drumming up overtime for WEP and GPO cases meanwhile senior citizens across our nation are having problems CONTACTING Social Security.

It is a fact that ineligible people are ineligible and not receiving benefits. SSA will suspend benefits if not lawfully present. If workers are knowingly processing anything but LAPR/citizens into pay they are not properly adjudicating the claims.

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith, R-Mo., DEMANDED Friday that the Social Security Administration deliver "clear guidance" on how it will deliver "immediate relief" now that the Social Security Fairness Act is law.

With a full repeal of Social Security’s Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO) now signed into law, the Social Security Administration (SSA) must provide Congress and the public with clear guidance on how it will deliver immediate relief to those who have been impacted by the flawed WEP and GPO," Smith along with Social Security Subcommittee Chairman Ron Estes, R-Kansas.

Senator Bill Cassidy previously told Newsweek: "Police officers, teachers, nurses, and other state and local public servants across Louisiana were punished for serving their communities...I'm grateful to the Trump administration for their quick work. Now, I will make sure they get the benefits they deserve which by law they are now guaranteed."

Senators Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, John Cornyn, and John Fetterman, in their joint letter to SSA Acting Commissioner Leland Dudek: "We have assisted spouses who have contacted our offices questioning the retroactivity. They have shared that even if they question the retroactivity with the SSA employees during their recent appointment to apply for benefits, the applicants are only granted six-months retroactivity from the most recent contact date."

Now overtime is available?

Parents with no ssn’s -have no legal status -should not be the recipients of Federal SSI benefits even if intended for their children - their nonlegal status make them a tenuous choice to be representative payee due to the possibility of deportation and also makes it morally wrong for them to file for those benefits and or receive SSI.

We have a dictator in the White House and DOGE is running wild but yet Congress is worried about effectuating GPO and WEP benefits. Midterm elections in 2026 can’t come fast enough.

Sorta hard to terminate something that never started...

@12:38 We are being misled by the administration. Any “savings” we see from these efforts are going right back in to the pockets of the wealthy through tax breaks. The national debt will continue to rise.

Your social security benefits should not be impacted by President Trump and Elon Musk’s cuts to federal funding and programs,” said Attorney General Bonta. “If you experience any disruptions to your social security benefits, I want to know. Please report any disruptions to my office using the form found at oag.ca.gov/socialsecurity.”

Within the last months, chaotic changes and disruptions within the Social Security Administration have caused issues for people trying to access their benefits, including reported website outages, difficulty accessing online accounts, and potential delays in benefits. These issues are largely attributed to changes including a cut to 12% of the Social Security workforce, potential gutting of its phone services, and the closure of field offices. The California Department of Justice is committed to protecting Californians from unlawful actions by the Trump Administration which should not impede access to federal entitlement programs — including social security benefits.

BALTIMORE (AP) — A federal judge on Thursday imposed new restrictions on billionaire Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, limiting its access to Social Security systems that hold personal data on millions of Americans.
U.S. District Judge Ellen Hollander issued a preliminary injunction in the case, which was brought by a group of labor unions and retirees who allege DOGE’s recent actions violate privacy laws and present massive information security risks. Hollander had previously issued a temporary restraining order.
The injunction does allow DOGE staffers to access data that’s been redacted or stripped of anything personally identifiable, if they undergo training and background checks.
Hollander said DOGE and any DOGE-affiliated staffers must purge any of the non-anonymized Social Security data that they have received since Jan. 20. They are also barred from making any changes to the computer code or software used by the Social Security Administration, must remove any software or code they might have already installed, and are forbidden from disclosing any of that code to others.

The objective to address fraud, waste, mismanagement, and bloat is laudable, and one that the American public presumably applauds and supports,” Hollander wrote in the ruling issued late Thursday night. “Indeed, the taxpayers have every right to expect their government to make sure that their hard earned money is not squandered.”
