Rally Against Musk Cuts

      From The Hill:

Democrats rallied against billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk, who also heads up President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), outside the Social Security Administration’s headquarters in Baltimore.

Democrats from both chambers gathered to sound alarm after a judge temporarily blocked Musk and DOGE personnel from gaining access to the Treasury Department’s sensitive payment system. …

Among those in attendance at the demonstration included Sen. Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) and Democratic Maryland Reps. Kweisi Mfume (D), Johnny Olszewski and Sarah Elfreth. Martin O’Malley, the former Baltimore mayor, Maryland governor and Social Security commissioner, also spoke at the event. …

The ball has started rolling with the tariffs. Won't be long before all public facing agencies including SSA be mostly dysfunctional. The cherry on top will be tax cuts particularly for the wealthy. Then a mild to moderate recession will start.

Well that will stop DOGE in its tracks. A rally! As useful as a strongly worded letter from AFGE. Want to get some attention. Sick out. 80% participation, FO first a month of reduced staff. Entire TII out a week sick, then entire TXVI out a week, rotate that for a month. Then PC, then RO and then a week with everyone. Once the hurt hits the public and the outrage is on the front page then something positive might, only might happen. Ohhh you will hurt the people. Guess what, they are going to get hurt anyway. Spock told us the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one. Break some eggs and make some omlets or stfu and take it like spineless drones.

Why are people fighting against trying to stop wasteful spending and promoting more efficiency?

Anonymous said...

Because when it is done by people that have had no interaction whatsoever with the agency or the people that depend on it, history has shown us the innocent and most vulnerable are hurt by the actions, however well meaning. The boogyman of fraud is always used to cut benefits.

Because Musk isn’t actually doing any of those things. Why can’t you form an independent assessment of what you read on Breitbart or whatever?

It's because anything Republican is evil by definition, without any reflection of what is actually done. Maintain the corrupt status quo, allowing elderly senators and congressional reps become more and more wealthy.

We could eliminate regional offices. We have computer models that are 98% accurate in 75% of our disability cases. We could add that step and reduce the need for hearings, not taking away anyone's right to go to a hearing if they were denied.

Because people who don't worship at the altar of an apartheid nepo baby can see what the actual goal is here, and it isn't "trying to stop wasteful spending and promoting more efficiency."

60% of the time it works every time.

Who has computer models that claim to accurately predict disability under SSA rules? What's the company, and name of the program?

SSA has 13 basic benefits, but it has 2728 rules that make up hundreds of thousands of pages of rules for those 13 benefits.

Musk wrote on X on February 11: "At this point, I am 100% certain that the magnitude of the fraud in federal entitlements (Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, Disability, etc) exceeds the combined sum of every private scam you've ever heard by FAR. It's not even close.

Like most federal agencies, SSA can't justify its layers upon layers of management, beyond career SES desperately avoiding accountability. Woodlawn is a cesspool, and the agency can't possibly justify so many regions when line employees are subjected to ever increasing productivity metrics, give IT advances. That said, Musk is self serving, creepy, and greedy AF.

President Trump on Tuesday signed an executive order that will require federal agencies to severely curtail hiring once the current freeze is lifted and develop new plans to implement widespread layoffs across government.

The order will place Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency at the center of the efforts, reinforcing a demand Trump issued on his first day in office. The renewed effort for cuts is the latest salvo in the Trump administration’s battle to significantly shrink the federal workforce and diminish government capacity.

No need for sick outs. We will face furloughs like those proposed by O'Malley before his departure.

For my time at the agency, I have worked on a few program focused on making certain processes more efficient and reducing cost. This have always been my goal. The problem I have is what will the impact be to services to the public (longer wait times for benefits, reductions in retirement/disability/Medicare/Medicaid benefits). Millions of tax payers are the ones that will feel this pain. How does a reduction in your retirement look? How about higher Medicare premiums? ow about fewer doctors accepting Medicare and Medicaid? We are the ones that will suffer. These billionaires do not care about your pain and suffering.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday he was signing an executive order to give tech billionaire Elon Musk MORE power over the federal workforce, adding to Musk's swift and sweeping consolidation of political influence.

With Musk standing to his right in the Oval Office, Trump praised the work of his office, known as the Department of Government Efficiency Service (DOGE). And Trump said he wanted Musk to now do more, even as DOGE faces multiple lawsuits from labor unions and Democratic state attorneys general over whether it is acting within the law.

Bad DOGE!

The Treasury Department and White House have repeatedly said that Mr. Elez and Mr. Krause were given only “read-only” access to the data, which includes Americans’ bank account and Social Security numbers.

In a court filing, however, Mr. Gioeli said that Treasury staff discovered on Feb. 6 that Mr. Elez had been given “read/write permissions instead of read-only” to one of the payment databases the day before. Mr. Gioeli said that Treasury staff revoked his additional access and are investigating the incident.
