Trump ran on this issue and therefore it’s not a surprise. He also ran on bringing DOWN groceries, gas and housing prices and how is that going?
As a Democrat that has opposed excesses of "woke" left, I find this equally as appalling. No side should be obsessing over identity issues.
And on the topic of trans rights in particular, the political consensus was around children and potentially dangerous medical interventions. Why is the administration targeting trans adults?
Let this be a lesson for everyone--DO NOT trust radical activist of any stripe. And certainly do not put these people anywhere near core government functions.

What difference does it make to SSA what sex/gender you are? Is there anything in program rules which is different by sex? Is it just for purposes of identification? Why do they collect it at all?
This is a great and much needed change. Gender is an immutable trait. Science. Gender identity is whatever you want it to be, which is also why it’s worthless. Today I’m identifying as cyborg.

For sex? Yes, some of the respiratory listings consider sex. Gender, though? No. My understanding was that we previously referred to people by their gender identity because a) it's good customer service to be kind and b) it caused zero objective harm to any SSA employees.

Things had gone too far with the radical sex change agenda, within SSA. Both with the pronouns used for sex, and training of employees.
SSA employees had to watch a video a year or so ago. It was about a government employee who was undergoing "gender affirmation" change. Some of his co-workers felt uncomfortable about it, and the video taught that they could be subject to disciplinary action because of daring to express such beliefs.
Give me a big, major break. Many Americans find sex changes to be wrong and mistaken, and their beliefs should be respected.
"it's good customer service to be kind" It is crazy that this is a controversial position. The right/maga is the party of mean. Who wants to live a mean life? Life is easier being nice.

The video said nothing about being disciplined. And being tolerant of someone’s gender identity in no way equates to intolerance of someone’s religious beliefs or whatever beliefs they have about the issue. If you can’t coexist with a diverse population that has beliefs that differ from your own, then I’m afraid you’ve chosen the wrong country to live in.
@1:53: Exactly. But apparently the President and his followers are such fragile baby snowflakes with such weak masculinity that recognition of gender identity made them feel harmed.
I'm agnostic. My beliefs conflict with those of the "religious" right. What (further) action will they take against us? I mean, jesus was all about hate and retribution, wasn't he? (Hint: See Matthew 25).
