Trump’s Commerce Secretary says that if Social Security payments don’t get paid that the ones who would complain the most are “fraudsters.”

What a bozo giving out PII of his mother-in-law in a recorded public interview! I hope the fraudsters stay away from Geri Lambert's Social Security check.
Has anyone heard of the French Revolution? When those checks stop, I think everyone in this administration should fear for their lives. Dudek's head will be the first on the block.
Perhaps. If so, it will be a social disaster akin to 1930s. Social Security was once politically sacred. Even by traditional GOP standards. The current Congress must act. Will it?
The gift that keeps on giving. Lutnick was “allegedly “ one of Wall Streets great business minds. Isn’t he supposed to be at the White House lawn selling Teslas?
Cutting off the livelihood of the elderly population in this county will result in anger and desperation that will result in violence. And that violence will come from MAGA supporters. Please read a history book.
I don't read this as anyone threatening violence, the commenter is just observing that based on historical events, that the kind of things the administration is doing right now risks fomenting great social upheaval, including violence against those in power. I hope they are wrong, but I really don't think they were advocating for violence.
The AARP, a powerful advocacy group for seniors, was livid about the latest proposed change. “The Social Security Administration’s move to force people to visit offices in-person for services that they have sought by phone will result in more headaches and longer wait times to resolve routine customer service needs,” the AARP wrote in a statement. “Requiring rural Americans to go into an office can mean having to take a day off of work and drive for hours merely to fill out paperwork.” The AARP continued to stress the change could result in “real economic hardship” for older Americans.
Lutnick — a billionaire whose in-laws are also affluent — doesn’t seem to understand this, to say the least.
Several people, including Cuban, have raised concerns about how this could affect senior citizens living off social security checks.
"How many seniors who live exclusively off of their SS checks can afford internet? How many seniors no longer have a SS office near them now that dozens have been closed? What are people without internet or the ability to travel , or don’t have an office near them supposed to do if they need to reconfirm their bank account," the billionaire said in a post on X.
Employees of SSA who are not involved with the DOGE Team or in the work of the DOGE Team are not subject to the Order,” Hollander wrote in the letter on Friday sent to lawyers involved in the case. “ … Moreover, any suggestion that the Order may require the delay or suspension of benefit payments is incorrect.”
In response to Hollander’s letter, Dudek said in a statement that the court clarified its guidance and “therefore, I am not shutting down the agency.” Dudek, in a follow-up interview Friday afternoon with The Post, thanked Hollander for the clarification, adding, “The president is committed to keeping the Social Security offices open to serve the public.” He then acknowledged that this was an about-face from his stance in an interview with The Post earlier in the day.
Mr. GLutnik the billionaire is so out of touch with the common man that he’s too ignorant to realize most Americans live paycheck to paycheck and most seniors are on a fixed income. Yes, they’ll notice if those checks don’t come and they’ll know who to blame.
Howard Lutnick is a freakin' IDIOT. His mother-in-law may not be a beneficiary that has to live off of only their Social Security benefits, but there are so, so many beneficiaries that DO have to live off of their Social Security benefits. How dare Howard Lutnick speak like he has any clue what the public is going through with the chaos going on at SSA as well as the many other government agencies. Howard Lutnick wouldn't know how to deal with a beneficiary calling and crying because their Social Security benefit wasn't deposited to their checking or savings account, or a paper check wasn't received in the mail.
Where is the outrage from every single adult in the United States with all that is going on? Whether you are Republican, Democrat, Independent, Libertarian or anything else, THIS entire hellish situation going on with our country should shake everyone to their core. Why are so many people letting Trump bully them? Why isn't the Supreme Court speaking out by repealing 603 U.S. 593 from 2024 which determined that presidential immunity from criminal prosecution presumptively extends to all of a president's "official acts" - with absolute immunity for official acts within an exclusive......??? The Supreme Court repealed Roe v Wade which had been in existence for almost 50 years so they can surely repeal 603 U.S. 593 with the presidential immunity issue.
Besides the Supreme Court, why isn't the Congress, the Senate, the House, Mitch McConnell, former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and so many others speaking out against what Trump and Musk are doing to this country? The problem we are dealing with today is because Mitch McDonnell (former Senate Majority Leader) didn't speak up during Trump's first stint as president and put a stop to his craziness, bullying and outrageous actions. Also, the Senate acquitted Trump on all counts. The country has progressively gone downhill since 1/20/2025. During Trump's first stint as president, he had guardrails. Now he doesn't. Take the blinders off people.
Trump only ran for president to stay out of jail.
It is so scary what has been going on since 1/20/2025. All of the outrageous reductions in agency employees, disbanding others and now the talk of making anyone needing to deal with SSA having to go into an office to conduct business. It's ridiculous. THAT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT NEEDED. There are so many ways to verify who someone is to avoid waste, fraud and abuse. Musk is just using waste, fraud and abuse as a reason to get into the records of various agencies, but what proof has he provided to PROVE the waste, fraud, and abuse???
As Sen. Cruz has previously stated, “Howard Lutnick is an excellent choice to lead the Department of Commerce, and his vast experience will serve him well in his mission to promote America’s unlimited entrepreneurial spirit. Mr. Lutnick will play a key role in unleashing unprecedented innovation and ensuring our nation’s job creators are well equipped to expand opportunities for good-paying jobs.”
The voters are finally waking up and their voices are being heard. This convicted felon stated that he was going to be a dictator from day one and many didn’t believe him. Times have change and many want their country back.
The two most prominent voices on the Democratic Party’s progressive left wing visited Colorado’s Front Range on Friday to make the case that a fight against a billionaire “oligarchy” should be the focal point of the party’s resistance to the second Trump administration.
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York drew large crowds at stops in Greeley and Denver, part of a “Fighting Oligarchy” tour through multiple Western states while Congress is in recess. The Denver crowd at Civic Center Park was estimated at 30,000 people, with fences that closed off the event surrounded by spectators as well.
“In the hundreds of rallies that I have done, we have never, ever had a rally as large as this,” Sanders said. “And Denver, your presence here today is not just significant for Colorado. You are sending a profound message all over the world. The whole world is watching, and they want to know if the people of America are going to stand up to Trumpism, oligarchy and authoritarianism.”
Reply to 5:50am March 22, 2025 - A political stampeded at the ballot box for democrats will unfortunately be too late as the severe damage is currently being done. Time is not on the side of waiting until elections again.
Correct. If you don't care about collateral damage, which this administration clearly doesn't, then demolishing something is a lot faster and easier to accomplish than building or rebuilding it.

Trump keeps saying that he won't touch Social Security. But he always says in the same breath "except when there's fraud." Now, thanks to Lutnick, we know what the Trumpsters' definition of a fraudster is: anyone who complains when their benefits are cut.

Threatening violence? You sure you want to do that?
The message coming from Mr Lutnick is what Martin O’malley warned the American public. This administration is preparing to suspend payments
And the greedy billionaires will cheer.
Perhaps. If so, it will be a social disaster akin to 1930s. Social Security was once politically sacred. Even by traditional GOP standards. The current Congress must act. Will it?
Every LTC in the country will be impacted, how is that going to go?

Some people are too rich for their own good.

It’s almost like billionaires forget how important social security is to the other 99%
No threats, just sitting here with my popcorn.
If Dudek is stupid enough to shut the agency down we will see all hell break loose and it's gonna be furious!

Leland Dudek backs down. Leland lawyer up!

The convicted felon is already throwing Marco Rubio under the bus. Leland Dudek take note since you are on your own.

Will a civil war break out in the United States?
An endorsement from Ted Cruz is golden.
As Sen. Cruz has previously stated, “Howard Lutnick is an excellent choice to lead the Department of Commerce, and his vast experience will serve him well in his mission to promote America’s unlimited entrepreneurial spirit. A political stampede at the ballot box for democrats.
Let's donate all of Lutnick's billions of dollars to charity; I'm sure he wouldn't notice. Only a FRAUDSTER BILLIONAIRE would complain.

The judiciary and elections are all people got now. Cannot count on the congressional majority for help.
