Dudek Threatens To Shut Down Agency Over Court Ruling

       From Bloomberg:

The Trump administration is threatening to all but shut down the Social Security Administration in response to a judge’s ruling blocking activities by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency — an action that could delay payments to millions of beneficiaries caught in the middle of the legal battle.

Acting Social Security Commissioner Leland Dudek said the temporary restraining order issued Thursday is so broad in blocking access to data by “DOGE affiliates” that it could apply to any Social Security employee.

“My anti-fraud team would be DOGE affiliates. My IT staff would be DOGE affiliates,” Dudek said. “As it stands, I will follow it exactly and terminate access by all SSA employees to our IT systems.” …

“In an 134-page decision, a radical leftist-judge ordered Social Security Administration employees not to implement the President’s government-efficiency agenda,” said White House deputy press secretary Harrison Fields. “This is yet another activist judge abusing the judicial system to try and sabotage the President’s attempts to rid the government of waste, fraud, and abuse.”  …

We can only hope Dudek does what he says: “As it stands, I will follow it exactly and terminate access by all SSA employees to our IT systems.” …It will take about a week after they stop receiving benefits for 80 plus percent of citizens currently receiving Social Security benefits to run these shysters out of the country.

Precisely what Trump and Sleazy E want--Shut down the agency and disrupt payments...

Uh huh...shut down the mainframes and then see if they still think IT isn't mission critical.

You heard it here first: this overbroad ruling gets tossed on appeal immediately.

"Immediately after the order, the DOGE team members had their building and laptop access revoked, Dudek said."

I'm confused, Gauleiter Dudek. If you couldn't figure out who wasn't supposed to have access to the data based on the ruling, how did you know to revoke access to those specific people so swiftly?

I could find nothing in the decision that indicates that "DOGE affiliates" includes anyone besides the limited number of DOGE employees (designated by employee numbers) assigned to SSA. Did I miss something?

Another day of fresh hell

A spat of judicial rulings all attempting to derail the elected president's agenda, and instead apply their own policies

"Radical leftist"... "Activist Judge"... "Waste, fraud, and abuse"...

So close. I just needed "DEI hire" and "Soros-funded" to fill my Repetitive Fascist Propaganda bingo card.

There’s a reasonable way to interpret a ruling and there’s an unreasonable way. Dudek chose the latter.

Anonymous said...

lolololol no career SSA employees are "DOGE affiliates." Get rid of DOGE (USDS reappropriated) and you will be in compliance.

Apparently, Dookie’s anti-fraud efforts weren’t very effective given the “shocking levels of incompetence and fraud” Doge found at SSA after scanning the books for five minutes. Of course, we all know this is BS, but you can’t have it both ways, Sleezland!

On a side note, I heard Big Ballz has an alter ego: Deez Nutz.

Not everyone in the agency is a DOGE affiliate that is a cover story. Ture SSA employees who want the safety of your data are being forced out in droves. This mid level manager turned commissioner overnight knows nothing about the complicated systems he says he is trying to protect.

Anonymous said...

Leland may say the employees are "DOGE affiliates" but that doesn't make them so. Ask them, they'll tell you what they aren't. A judge can see through the BS. I do wonder what 20 year old DOGE sociopath wrote this tantrum response for Leland. And go ahead and shut it down, Leland. The backlash will be swift and not what the tunnel visioned MAGA heads expect. Elon might take to the streets in a swasticar to celebrate but the taxpayers won't.

Anonymous said...

Oof. Sounds like Leland has fully fallen out of touch with reality.

Anonymous said...

Go ahead and shut 'er down there Leland, that would certainly accelerate your entry into your next role in the regime - scapegoat/fall guy

Dudek is nothing more than a DOGE puppet aiming at ruining the agency. SSA already had an all time low in agency satisfaction among employees. These actions are aimed at undermining their services and their resolve to help the public. Dudek doesn’t represent employees or care about the agency. DOGE has no right to personal information as their information is not waste or fraud.
I am ashamed of the people who think this is all okay.

I though she was running the DOGE clown show?

Amy Gleason, the government worker the Trump administration has said is actually in charge of Elon Musk’s signature Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) program, has a second role at a separate agency, according to court documents.

Since February, Gleason has been detailed to the Department of Health and Human Services, and on March 4 she signed a document formally accepting a role as “expert / consultant” at the agency, which oversees marquee government efforts like Medicare and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Howard Lutnick says Elon Musk vowed onstage that DOGE would cut $2 trillion in spending when he was supposed to say $1 trillion

He might as well threaten to turn off the sun, nothing burger.

Don’t cry in front of the cameras when they haul your hind parts out of there in cuffs Lee.

Dudek is a moron if he thinks it would be a political winner to interpret this decision as broadly as possible and shut-down the agency. I honestly hope they are stupid enough to try this.

It defies common sense to claim DOGE staff are critical to ALL agency functions. Last I heard there are less than two dozen DOGE staffers at the agency, and they have only been there for what, 45 days? Admitting that SSA has become entirely dependent on these DOGE staffers is wild. Huge own goal on Dudek's part, and exposes his political naivete.

Whatever you do, don't read the actual judgement...137 pages of bs from "activist judge" getting in the way of musk and chronies without any background clearances having access to pii and confidential data. Obviously nothing to see here, just going to have to shut down the entire agency since apparently DOGE is running the 2 trillion$ ssa

Anonymous said...

I completely agree. I rely on those payments but I'd rather starve than see people give in to these threats by Dudek etc. If we don't draw a line in the sand on this one, they know they can do anything to us

Anonymous said...

If by that you mean derail the authoritarian power grab by the executive and actually follow the laws of our country and uphold their sworn oaths to the constitution, then sure. That's exactly what they're doing.

Anonymous said...

He's in so far over his head.

Anonymous said...

They are probably just going to create “new” accounts for all the Dodge-bags to get around this ruling.

Anonymous said...

Because he is the fool who gave them access in the first place. He was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation for performing this illegal act and then promoted for committing a crime.

Anonymous said...

Leland wants to be put out of his misery.

Anonymous said...

How would that get around this order? It doesn't address "accounts," it addresses people. Elon and Dudek can't clone them yet.

Anonymous said...

Or, better yet, issue a new executive order.

The conclusion at page 133 of the memorandum opinion states that a "Temporary Restraining Order shall issue." I can't find the actual TRO online, just this long opinion explaining the basis for issuing it. Maybe such language is in the actual TRO, which is likely much shorter.

Dudek is a moron. Full stop.

Anonymous said...

I can think of a few "DOGE affiliates" and they should be considering personal liability insurance or representation, right about now.

Anonymous said...

Dudek is such a puppet.

One wonders if he stomped his foot and threatened to hold his breathe till he died too.

Just wait until grandma x millions gets evicted because her Social Security check was deposited on time.

Anonymous said...

Leland is writing the Democrats campaign ads for the mid-terms!

Anonymous said...

Have you absolutely lost your mind?!? The law was broken given them access to PII. Period. The judicial system is in place to enforce the laws…which do not seem to be easy to follow in the current climate. It is not rocket science…do not break the law and the judges will not make injunctions. The fact that you do not see the crimes that have been committed is very disturbing.

Anonymous said...

I'm aware. Just pointing out that vacuous nature of his claim that it is so overbroad that he can't figure out who it applies to, only to have revoked the privileges of the exact people he knows it actually applies to. He can say whatever he wants, his action tells you he knows exactly what the ruling meant and he complied with it.

Anonymous said...

he did say he'd continue to make mistakes...

Are Musk and his dummies qualified to be even remotely close to SSA's 60 million lines of COBOL code?

Another supporter of the machtergreifung.

Another executive order from yesterday seems a lot more ominous.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/03/strengthening-the-suitability-and-fitness-of-the-federal-workforce/

"The Director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is delegated the authority to make final suitability determinations and take suitability actions regarding employees in the executive branch based on post-appointment conduct, consistent with applicable law. In this context, a suitability action can include a directive by OPM to the head of an executive department or agency (agency) to remove an employee who does not meet the suitability criteria defined in OPM’s regulations."
