Watched the full interview on WBAL. He missed his opportunity to look presidential & instead appeared biased by referring to “copresident & the DOGE kids” & weak by crying. I get sympathy but we need a leader. He’s not wrong about the privatization, but presentation is everything and he needs to keep his act together to get his important message across.
Commissioner O'Malley did a fine job. I can tell it breaks his heart to see what Trump and Musk are doing to Social Security and the employees of the administration. This horror show must end.
All 3 Claims Specialists in my unit at SSA are taking the incentive bonus to retire. They are getting $20,000.00 plus a month of administrative leave as a buyout. Their last day of work is 3/21/25. Then they go on Administrative Leave to 04/19/25.
How is this cost efficient? How does this help SSA? Commissioner O'Malley never would have approved this.
These are well trained, hardworking, and invaluable front-line employees and we are paying them to leave. It makes no sense.
Who will be left to do the work, we were barely treading water with them here,
O'Malley is a phony. He caused MANY working mothers to quit with a return to office plan. He refused meetings, refused to respond to our question on EngageSSA, and best of all, RAN away from the agency the second something better came up (DNC chair). SSA employees REJECT him.
That's funny @8:33. O'Malley caused a large exodus of staff in my unit with his version of the RTO, which led to people coming in more than what they did before the pandemic. He contributed to staff loss.
O’Malley started the decline of the agency by pushing for more work in an effort to look better. And every layer below him pushed even harder so they could look better to those above.
Instead he should have used the stats to show things were bad. Incremental progress is an admirable goal. But at the cost of people.
Let’s not pretend that “looking presidential” is a thing currently. He gives a damn and he’s angry and we all should be with the lies that trump co profligate. If he runs for president some day I’ll make it a point to put looking presidential on my bingo card. Until then, giving a damn and passionately advocating against the downfall of our most important govt program works. Certainly keeping millions out of poverty is a good look.
He was wonderful and cared about the work we do. He made the time to understand our business processes and frontline work. Yes, he wasn't there long but accomplished a good amount of work without running it into the ground
Maybe some of this is true, but I disagree with the latter. He ran away because Trump won and he was going to be booted in a couple of months. If he knew he would be kept in place, I’m sure he would have stuck around.
I love this blog, hate on all COSS or ACOSS and here is what you get. The new ACOSS destroying the entire program. Enjoy it, I am, you all would complain if they handed out gold bricks because they are too heavy!

I never doubted that he genuinely cared about SSA employees and our mission.

No they do not reject him. Don’t speak for us all.
